Karoondinha (ka-roon-din-ha) – a Seneca word meaning, “The Land of Shining Waters” Central Pennsylvanians, grab your piggy banks and gather up your loose change, a major music festival is coming your way. More commonly thought of as the home of Penn’s Cave, Centre Hall is making strides in the music & arts community by hosting the Karoondinha Music & Arts Festival this July 21-23. If the prospects of seeing Chance the Rapper, Sturgill Simpson, The Roots, and Leon Bridges in one weekend isn’t enough to attract your attention maybe one of the other 70+ acts will be more in line with your tastes. Most intriguing to me are the pop-up performances planned to take place within Penn’s Cave, which to my knowledge is only navigable by boat. This will be an event unlike anything we’ve had in the Mid-State, and I recommend you take advantage of it. Aside from the music, the festival will offer classes teaching meditation, yoga, and dance. There is a strong focus on the natural landscape and getting festival-goers to experience the region through hikes and guided tours. Passes are still available for the festival if you are interested in attending and pricing can be found HERE.
